Diary of a Recovering BiPolar Woman

 Frying Pan into the Fryer
Back to Full Blog

I'm a consistently non-spectacular bi-polar diagnosed woman with 4 children. Sometimes that diagnosis gives me a lot of leeway as to coming up with highly creative, and yet off the activities. I sometimes wonder if these newer diagnoses had been around in the 17th century, would some of our best artists and writers have been institutionalized, or drugged into oblivion?

Don't get me wrong. There are many times when I'm feeling spectacular that its a good thing I'm on meds to bring me down a bit so that the consequencial part of my brain can coordinate with my impulse control problem.

It's just frustrating day to day being ok, ordinary, normal and frankly I'm fucking bored to death.........So I took up knitting needles six months ago and haven't been able to go a day with out knitting since.

I'm also in need of support. I live in a VERY CONSERVATIVE 100 percent mormon neighborhood. I grew up mormon, but I'm currently having trouble connecting with them. I'm looking to connect with Christians and Buddhists nationwide for spiritual guidance. I feel so out of place here. I often think that the only reason I'm diagnosed as being mentally ill is because I am completely totally repressed intellectually, spiritually, socially, and physically.

Help I need to know what it's like outside a microcosm of mormons! \

Please respond anyone with anything.......oh....by the way.....i've taking up drinking to solve my problem....and I need help to quit.

Perceived reality, reality, no difference. If you think you are drinking because of X,Y,Z- that is reality for you unless you let in information from the outside. My wife and I have a group of friends who belong to your faith. We also have a group of friends who are menonites. My wife was pentacostal and I, the only saved one of the bunch, a fundamental baptist! hahahahahahaha Seriously now Uncle Buddy said that if getting to heaven is as hard as men make it there wont be enough of us there for a prayer meeting! This is not about religion or money or status or anything else! It is about not dying from alcoholism! This is a disease that kills people but usually not before it ruins your life at least once or twice. I am an addiction expert! I have books and slides!! I travel to teach sometimes, thats how I know I must be an expert? Right!hahaha Recovery starts with not using, staying sober! What do you really want to achieve? Make a list? Blog On! Mr. Denny

Welcome. I'm all drugged up too, and pretty creative at times. You'll see at my blog. Last year I decided I didn't want to talk any more, so I started taking a sign language class!

I'll check back with you. Amy

Hi Bipolar Woman... Bipolar Girl, here. Welcome to the blog. I don't have much to say in this particular moment but you wanted to hear from Christians with bipolar. My blog is called The Adventures of Bipolar Girl. It's about being bipolar and Christian and how I walk that out. My people skills are a bit weak. I'm decidedly anti-social. I can't promise that I'll read your blog religiously... well when you put it all that way, what good to you am I??? Evidently not much. So I'll just stick with Welcome to the Stream.

Just discovered your blog, thanks for sharing your thoughts and life with us. I am not a dx bipolar individual but have many mood swings issues, which makes it hard for me to understand myself(emtionally) but like Laurel's blog, it sure helps to know many people have difficulties with life, mood swings and survive. I look forward to reading all you have to blog about. Thanks again. Hailey
